Gibson Stone Fine Artwork
Meet Jill Gibson
I studied painting at the Art Student's League in New York, and continued my studies in Europe for 6 years. In 1997, I found working in 3 dimensions with clay very satisfying. My inspiration, in both mediums, comes mostly from nature, the feminine, and my own process of learning about who I am. My historical influences are the very early Renaissance, classical Eastern imagery including Persian miniatures and Indian sculpture, and pre-Indo-European culture. My work has been shown in galleries all over Europe and the US during the past 35 years. I am in numerous private collections.
The images in Jill Gibson's cast stone sculptures are original designs inspired by the desire for healing - empowerment of the archetypal feminine energy and wisdom - the core or still point - BEING. Her work calls attention to a deep connection between the earth and women as nurturers and providers. These sculptures include wall plaques, planters, tabletop sculptures, and candle bases. All works are individually cast, sealed, signed, and hand finished with a patina, which renders each a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of lasting value.
